Zonta Club and Contemporary Arts Center to Collaborate on New Exhibition
The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) and the Zonta Club are coming together to present their second annual collaborative exhibition, Journey of Healing – The Trauma-Informed Power of Art
The Zonta Club of Cincinnati is a service organization that works through advocacy, educational scholarships and service events to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide. The organization has been serving in Cincinnati for nearly 90 years and is part of Zonta International.
The newest exhibition highlights gender-based violence and the healing journey through the power of art. showcases the work of over thirty local artists and their own personal journeys using art as a matter of healing. With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the exhibition hopes to bring awareness to the real experiences of many people.
"Art provides a safe way to process our emotions from experienced traumatic events," said Zonta Club of Cincinnati's President, Jane Wiehe, in a press release. "The same artistic expressions is also an effective way to bring about public awareness of gender-based violence that has often been kept hidden."
opens to the public on Thursday, Oct. 10, with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. at the CAC. The exhibition will be available for viewing through Oct. 28.
