Injury accident cleared on Interstate 540 in Fort Smith

UPDATE: The accident has been cleared.

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — An injury accident is causing slowdowns on Interstate 540 in Fort Smith, according to IDriveArkansas.

The slowdown is near Exit 8A (Rogers Avenue) and affecting on-ramp and northbound traffic. The left lane is the only one affected as of 4:50 p.m.

Vehicles are using the right shoulder and the right lane.

Many vehicles driving northbound are using Exit 9 (Leigh Avenue/Phoenix Avenue).

No word has been given on the number of injuries or vehicles involved in the crash.
