RONAN — Getting around rural Montana without driving is almost impossible, that is unless you have an organization like Western Montana Transit that provides public transportation for those that don't drive. Thanks to the groundbreaking of its new transit center on Tuesday, they're excited to see what the future might hold as they continue to see increased use."We're really excited to kind of have a place to call home that we can actually do our own scheduling and our own training, that it's going to be a lot better place for us to work out of," said Western Montana Aging Services executive director Lori Thibodeau.The new transit center in downtown Ronan will have 10 bays for Western Montana Transit's vans, two of which are ADA accessible — one with a loading lift.The bays are a welcomed upgrade from their current parking lot."First of all, the vans will be protected from the weather so we won't have to be scraping ice off of them and digging them out of the snow," said Tony Aweeka who's a volunteer driver for Western Montana Transit.The new transit center will not only be a place to store their vans but also be a place for the community to come and gather."We have office space for our dispatcher, our coordinator and then we have a couple of um, a community room that we'll have available to the public as well," Thibodeau told MTN.The Lake County community that Western Montana Transit serves is the main driver behind the construction of the new transit center. "A lot of people who are housebound. And as you know in Montana, if you don't drive, you're in big trouble. So it's, it's for them it's a lifesaver really," explained Aweeka. "You know in the past we, dealt mainly with older housebound people. But there are a lot of people who are disabled and younger and who just need a ride to the store."Construction is expected to take roughly nine months to a year so if you're in the area, you can look forward to this new transit center rather soon.

Longhorn Racing boasts a group of over 300 students passionate about automobiles and racing who design and manufacture cars over the course of an academic year. The group consists of three major teams: solar, combustion and electric, and each gets the chance to show off their creations at various events throughout the year.With two days of presentations and showcases, the Austin Auto Festival (AAF) took place at Q2 Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, featuring dozens of automotive groups and corporations, including Longhorn Racing. Showing off their electric vehicle of the 2023-2024 school year, Angelique, named after a Kenny Loggins song, weighs around 370 pounds and can go from 0 to 60 in about three seconds and boasts 107 horsepower. Ivy Beltran, a member of the electric team, said that the group went to AAF to showcase the electric vehicle they designed last fall and manufactured in the spring. "We have a little area designated to us, provided by the Austin Auto Festival, where people can come up to our booth and talk about the car," Beltran said. "We're able to talk about Longhorn Racing, the history, what we plan to do in our future ... we are able to do more outreach."Beltran, a radio-television-film sophomore, said she initially felt unsure if there was a place for her in Longhorn Racing since she is not an engineering student, but she found that her major ended up contributing in valuable ways to the organization."I have a lot of experience with camera equipment and software," Beltran said. "My major has really been able to contribute to the team through our YouTube videos or Instagram content. I've been able to help the electric team better edit their content, teaching them about things like shot lists and scripts."Dylan Dubinsky, a government senior and a driver for the electric team, said his involvement with Longhorn Racing helped him improve at working in a team and problem solving at a competition where he got to drive the car earlier in the year."We didn't actually get the car to drive under its own power until we were at the competition itself," Dubinsky said. "So the first lap that I drove at the competition ... was the first lap I'd ever been in the car. That was somewhat of a stressful but also cool experience."He said interacting with so many different people interested in automobiles and Longhorn Racing proved memorable, specifically his interaction with a mother whose son was passionate about racing. "She was like, 'I don't follow any of that, but you guys are the Longhorns, and so I want to follow y'all,'" Dubinsky said. "That stuck out to me ... because this woman doesn't know racing ... but sees us and wants to back us because she loves UT." Pranav Yedavelli, a math and economics junior and corporate relations officer, secures funding for the organization's vehicles and equipment. With each vehicle costing between $60,000 and $70,000 to build, attending events like the Austin Auto Festival is an important part of building relationships and showcasing the work of the student organization."There's definitely a lot of work to be done, and it can be stressful at times, but I also think it's a lot of fun, and it provides a lot of unique opportunities," Yedavelli said.

Almost 100 Erie County residents gathered in a packed meeting room Tuesday for a public comment session about this year's budget — A budget that one former council member said has left people particularly concerned. "More often you would have public hearings on the proposed budget that would have no one attending, so the past, I would say three years now, this will be the third year, you have capacity crowds, people spilling out into the hallway. That's not a good thing," said Mary Rennie, community advocate and former county councilwoman. Many people in the council chambers voiced concerns about local EMS, which county executive Brenton Davis said is a top priority of his budget. Davis's proposed budget would reallocate $2.5 million from county gaming revenue to bolster EMS services. Concerns arise following proposed funding increase for local EMS services in 2025 budget Many of the people who came to speak at the county courthouse had EMS services on their minds, and the problem doesn't necessarily come within the City of Erie, but rather the more rural townships in the county. "There's some tremendous wait times. At our location in Corry, we're one of the farthest places from the county seat," said Corry City Council member Jeffery Fike. "If the traditional ambulance or EmergyCare is not available, we have our next nearest available coming out of Clymer, New York." Fike said some EMS wait times range from 30 to 50 minutes and volunteer numbers are down. But the former councilwoman said she has seen many county budgets in the past and doesn't think a centralized county EMS system is possible. New PA bill will allow year-round motorcycle inspections "The county government does not have a mandate and does not have the funding to support an EMS service, and for some of the counties across the country that do have centralized EMS authorities on the county government level, it's extremely expensive, millions upon millions of dollars," said Rennie. LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Formula 1 festivities are set to begin on Thursday. Las Vegas Metro Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill is responsible for ensuring it goes off safely. He shared his experience with high-profile events like F1 and the Super Bowl. FOX5 learned some of the new technology and tactics that will come into play this week ahead of F1. Huck: Do you feel you are ready for this?McMahill: I am in a much better place as far as readiness than I was the first year. But listen, I'm going to just be completely candid with you. We know Las Vegas is a target. It always has been. And what I will tell you is, is that I plan for every single one of these special events that we have on our strip, like it's going to be attacked or something is going to happen. We treat f1 very similar to what we do with New Year's Eve. The planning for both of those events starts within weeks. Of them actually ending from the year prior.Huck: Are there any credible threats being investigated? McMahill: I wouldn't say there's any credible threats that were are being investigated, but I will tell you that there's always persons of interest that we're paying attention to whenever Las Vegas is in the spotlight of a national event that people are paying and in this case, this is an international event, right? People all around the world are tuning in to watch what happens in these races. So we're constantly paying attention to all of those threats that emerge, not only through our federal partnerships, but through my own counterterrorism section that we have. We. Huck: Will people notice anything different? Or is this something where you try to kind of blend in with the crowds?McMahill: No, really interesting question. I try to have a really highly visible presence of our officers. But also, in this case, we're partnering with about 1200 private security officers. We want them to have a very visible presence for deterrence number one, but also number two is if you think you're going to get away with something, you know you're not, because you're not going to go five feet without seeing a cop, right? And so, but let me just tell you this part without exposing too much, there's a whole lot of people that are police officers and law enforcement in and amongst those crowds that you're not going to know that are law enforcement.Huck: Any new technology being deployed?McMahill: Lots of technology being deployed. So I think the question keeps getting asked about, am I going to be flying drones? You know, I have a new drone as a first responder program. We can't have other people flying drones over the raceway, for obvious reasons. So we have drone mitigation technology that we have out there. So lots of lots of technology that we're using, and it's just a force multiplier. As you well know, I know you've seen our Real Time Crime Center, but 1000s of public safety cameras that are down there, license plate readers, all the things that we have in our toolbox are being utilized to keep the community safe during this time.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority sidelined Staten Island's newest train cars just one month after their debut — and it's not clear when exactly they'll be back on the tracks. Five shiny, new blue-and-silver R211 cars are sitting in the yard of the MTA's Clifton Maitenance shop because of an issue with signal systems that was uncovered during routine testing, an MTA source said. The issue comes as a blow to the rail system in "The Forgotten Borough," with the cars part of a $1.4 billion buy that was supposed to upgrade Staten Island Railway's antiquated cars. "We are very committed to Staten Island," MTA CEO Janno Lieber told reporters Monday. "I know it's sport out there to take shots at the MTA, but we're investing heavily in Staten Island. We're determined to make sure that they have access." The new cars are still under warranty and repairs will not cost taxpayers, according to an MTA spokesperson who couldn't say when the new cars would be back in service. "It is not surprising that during the initial roll out of any train car fleet, some systems would need attention as was the case here. We expect the R211's to be on the rails as normal soon," the spokesperson said. The five cars were part of a 535 car order the MTA placed with manufacturer Kawasaki in 2018 worth an estimated $1.4 billion – making each car worth around $2.6 million. They are the first of 75 to be used on Staten Island's rails to replace most of the trains there, according to the Staten Island Advance, which first reported on the issue . When the cars launched MTA bragged in a press release they would have "state-of-the-art amenities" like wider doorways for quicker loading and unloading, and the cars were a "critical part" of the MTA's ongoing modernization efforts. The new cars were supposed to be six times more reliable than cars in the current fleet and able to travel an average of 240,000 miles between replacements and major repairs, according to the release. In October 2022, the MTA announced the MTA Board had approved an order for an additional 640 of the R211 subway cars.

Last year, Shane van Gisbergen drove a part-time star car with Trackhouse Racing's "Project91" team. According to his report, he could wield the Cup Series' Next-Gen car, which debuted in 2022 and resembles race cars from the rest of the world. However, the Xfinity car is leagues different, and SVG had a funny description of it.Shane van Gisbergen felt wobbly in Xfinity</h2> Well, you do require time to assimilate another sport's racing techniques, especially if the cars are different. For a seasoned veteran like Shane van Gisbergen holding Bathurst wins and a 24 Hours of Daytona podium, this should be a cakewalk. And it was during his earth-shattering victory at the 2023 Chicago Street Race. However, even a legend stumbles with a wholly different setup. The Next-Gen car is universal with 18-inch wheels with large single-lug nuts, an independent rear suspension, and a five-speed sequential transmission. On the other hand, Xfinity cars are old-school NASCAR: 15-inch wheels with five lug nuts each, a solid rear axle, and a four-speed manual transmission. So SVG's transition to a full-time Xfinity car was not smooth this year. Earlier this year, in an interview at Talladega Superspeedway, Shane van Gisbergen confessed his wobbly feeling. Journalist Matt Weaver posted SVG's thoughts recently: "I like the Cup car because it feels like every other car in the world I've driven, and then I got in the Xfinity car and had no idea what was happening. It drives like a forklift, the way the rear end moves, how it drives but if you speak to drivers here, they like it better." SVG did not shy away from expressing wonder at Xfinity's marvel. "The rear end is really, really interesting, how it moves around. I've never driven a car like that." Despite this difficulty in maneuvering the Xfinity car, we are all aware of Shane van Gisbergen's thumping success. He won three races this year, all of them road courses—Portland, Sonoma, and Chicago. Reddick detailed his opinion about the Gen 6 car in June this year. "Where a lot of drivers would have issues under braking with the [last] car was with the old-school truck arms, and just how much those flex and wheel hop. Once you had axle hop — wheel hop — you were more than likely crashing. The more you had that axle hop if you didn't crash the car, you would just shake all the parts loose." Then he harped on the Next-Gen's versatile nature. "With the Next Gen car, that's totally different. With independent rear suspension, all the beefy suspension parts it has, you don't really have situations where the car falls apart like the other car did. You can launch it across curbs as hard as you want." Evidently, road course winners harbor the same view about NASCAR's differing vehicles. Another automobile manufacturer i n Riverside is set to lay off 144 employees in the coming weeks. The layoffs were announced Tuesday by Martinrea, an auto parts producer with a facility at 5233 NW 41st St. in Riverside. In a notice required by law in cases of mass layoffs, the company said it will permanently lay off 69 employees at the Riverside plant as early as December 5 and another 75 employees by January 17. The layoff dates could change based on information from a company for whom the facility produces certain parts. The notice did not disclose the name of the customer in question. Martinrea did not respond for comment. In the notice, the company said this was "unexpected" and resulted from the customer accelerating the production of multiple products. Martinrea The customer also notified the company it will not be working with Martinrea for future production lines. The bulk of the layoffs come from production associates, with 50 associates expected to be laid off on December 6 and 39 associates expected to be laid off in January. The Martinrea announcement follows other recent layoffs, including in Riverside. Yanfeng, an international automotive parts supplier headquartered in China, and Aident, a seat manufacturer, have said they will lay off a combined 600 workers in Riverside from November through January. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With Nashville's approval of the mayor's transit plan, WeGo will expand its service. However, more bus operators are needed before that can happen, so leaders are hoping newer programs will help fill the gaps. WeGo Public Transit is offering two programs in an effort to get more people hired. The first program is a hands-on mechanic apprenticeship program with a full salary where participants learn the needed skills to fix active fleet buses. The program is taught inside WeGo's bus maintenance facilities and participants will work on active fleet buses. The goal is to get people ready for a starting mechanics position at WeGo, which offers room for further advancement.'She took my baby': Mother speaks out after losing daughter to allegedly drunk driver The other is an 11-week paid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program for those wanting to be a bus driver. For those that already have a CDL, the company is instead offering an 8-week WeGo training process. All WeGo operators will have to have at least 80, but on average closer to 100, hours of driving time with an instructor. "Most places that you go, you gotta pay to get your CDL," said Edtwquan Taylor, a driver operator in training currently enrolled in the program. "They help you get your CDL here and they still pay you for it, so it's a win-win." Taylor told News 2 he's close to finishing the program and will take his CDL test on Friday. So far, he said that he'd learned a lot. "[We go over] all the stuff we need to know to drive the bus, de-escalation training, everything that we need to know as far as what we're going to expect when we get out on the road," Taylor added. Transit leaders have said that dozens more mechanics and drivers need to be hired before certain Choose How You Move transit plan components can happen. "Hiring's always been an important thing for us, but it's becoming even more important," said Eric Melcher, the public information officer for WeGo. Melcher said that it would be impossible to expand service without first hiring a sufficient amount of drivers and mechanics. "That's why we're starting now," Melcher added. "We probably won't be expanding service for another few months but really its critical now we can get people training, get them in the loop." Taylor told News 2 that for him, it's been more than a program — it's a shot at a long-term career. "At the end of the day, I just want to take care of my family," Taylor said. "I can do that here with the opportunity I was given." Benefits for WeGo positions include health, dental and vision coverage as well as a pension plan, company-paid life insurance policy and tuition reimbursement. Nov. 19—ELKHART — One of the biggest names in the RV industry has died. The death of Peter J. Liegl, the founder of Forest River Inc., was announced Tuesday by the company he started. "It is with deep sadness that Forest River, Inc. announces the passing of its founder, Peter J. Liegl. Pete not only was a visionary leader who transformed the RV industry, but one of Indiana's proudest citizens and most generous philanthropists," a statement from the company reads. "He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Lisa L. Rees, son-in-law Logan Rees, and grandchildren Adrienne (6) and Ryan (3) and brother-in-law Gary Chamberlin." Liegl sold his multibillion company to investor Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in 2005, but he stayed on at the helm of Forest River. Forest River's statement provided Liegl's rise in the RV industry: "Sales and management positions brought him valuable experience in production, operations, and customer service. He worked his way to the role of president at Midas Motorhomes and then on to Shasta, a Coachmen-owned company, before deciding to venture out on his own when he co-founded Cobra Industries. Cobra Industries went public and Pete was 'fired.' This led him to build his first RV by hand in a barn. Driven to succeed, Liegl brought his first units to Louisville and sold them outside under a lamp post — which was the beginning of 'Where the forest meets the river.' The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission held an Open House Plans Display for the public and interested stakeholders on the project design for the State Route 130 Interchange project in Penn Township, Westmoreland County. In a release Tuesday, officials outlined the plan design, which will link the turnpike and state Route 130, improving access for both westbound and eastbound traffic from the turnpike. The plan will also help to encourage economic development in Westmoreland and neighboring counties. "This new interchange marks a significant step forward in enhancing transportation infrastructure, connectivity and potential economic development in Westmoreland County," Pennsylvania Turnpike CEO Mark Compton said in the statement. "We look forward to expanding our connections to the communities who surround the PA Turnpike to enhance state and national mobility."The Pennsylvania Turnpike's website outlines the project phases and details, along with additional projects in Penn Township. The project is currently in the preliminary phase, the statement said, with construction currently scheduled to begin in fall 2035. Construction is expected to be complete by summer 2038. The Open House Plans Display was held at Penn-Trafford High School at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

AUSTIN, Texas — Emergency services may be getting split up in some areas of Hays County.Right now, the San Marcos Hays County EMS Association provides ambulance and emergency services to most of the county.However, staff with the North Hays County EMS, also known as ESD 1, could vote to cut ties with that association and provide its services.Since 1983, San Marcos Hays County EMS has provided ambulance services to areas like Kyle, San Marcos, Dripping Springs and more to unify EMS across the county. Association President Zack Phillips said the agency has deep roots in the community due to its reliable, high-quality service. However, cracks in the team are starting to show. "Recent discussions about discontinuing their service agreements in favor of starting new, fragmented EMS services raise several troubling issues that I urge this court to consider," Phillips said on Wednesday morning at the Hays County commissioners meeting. For the past several months, Hays County ESD 1 in Dripping Springs has been considering severing its contract with the association to provide its own emergency services."These entities have the right and the ability to do this, but at the end of the day, it's a detriment to our citizens and the patients we serve," Phillips said. He said they currently provide ESD 1 with two full-time ambulances, two part-time ambulances, one backup and the staff to man them. Without the contract, the district will lose all of that. Phillips said that may cause interruptions to service and aid to the community out there. "You could triple it in some areas because it could go to 40-plus minutes," he said. "The alternative of calling for mutual aid from other areas – to be honest, Austin-Travis County is extremely busy; Blanco County has very limited resources; Wimberley has limited resources. It's a very rural area, so the resources are very limited to help in that that need."Phillips also said the 23 people who currently serve ESD 1 would be out of a job if the contract is severed. He said fractured services are detrimental to the community because a team needs unified protocols, service and response to high-level care. "It's not what the patients of the county deserve, especially when we're not talking about day-to-day business. We're talking life and death when minutes count," Phillips said. North Hays ESD 1 Chief Bob Luddy said trust in the association's ability to deliver services has started to crack due to things like instability in leadership. In the past seven months, two assistant chiefs on the association's board left for other jobs and the chief resigned on Monday night. "Their chief resigned after a vote of no confidence against him that was signed by 90% of their employee body," Luddy said. He said they want to make sure they can still provide emergency services if the association is unable to. Luddy said it could happen at the same cost, or less for what they already pay the association now through the funds they receive from taxpayers' property and sales taxes. With the plan they've created so far, they'd have all four ambulances on duty 24/7, all year round. They would retain a battalion chief position, as well as creating three additional positions for an assistant deputy chief, battalion chief over education and a chief over ALS first responders. "If we end up doing this, the plan that we're going to work out, the citizens will never know that there was a change," Luddy said. He said ESD 1 already has the ambulances and medical equipment to make it happen. But what will be new if it had its own EMS service is being in charge of its own operational management. "That's something that we haven't been able to achieve with the current terms of the contract. San Marcos Hays County EMS has the ultimate medical or operational control, and if we have concerns, if we want to change the start times of any of our ambulances, if we need to have personnel movements, we've not been able to effect those changes for our community. This would allow us to be able to do that," Luddy said. The meeting to decide whether ESD 1 will sever their contract with the San Marcos Hays County EMS association began at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The southbound lanes of U.S. 169 on the new Buck O'Neil Bridge and the flyover ramp to Interstate 35 in downtown Kansas City are now open, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced Tuesday. The opening of the southbound lanes of the bridge is one of the last major milestones in the $220 million project to replace it . "It is exciting to know after four years, we are able to open the project as promised by Dec. 1, 2024," said James Pflum, the Buck O'Neil Bridge project director. "I think it is important to note that the improvements on the project are not just for those coming from downtown but also regional commuters and for those who will utilize a new pedestrian pathway." The new Buck O'Neil Bridge, located in the northwest corner of downtown Kansas City, is a pair of separate bridges built to replace the former iconic triple arch steel-truss bridge that opened in 1956 as a toll bridge run by the city. The bridge, built during the post-World War II automobile boom, cost $12 million to construct and generated nearly $40 million in revenue. When tolls ended in 1991, it cost 25 cents a car to cross. The following year, the city transferred ownership of the bridge to MoDOT. Once known as the Broadway Bridge, it was renamed in 2016 to honor popular sports legend Buck O'Neil. The bridge, nearing the end of its projected service life and needing to be replaced, is a critical regional connection between downtown Kansas City and the Northland. Nearly 50,000 vehicles a day used the old bridge before it closed to traffic. Massman-Clarkson, A Joint Venture, was chosen as the design-build contractor for the project, and construction began in July 2021. The former bridge stopped carrying traffic over the river in January. Three separate blasts earlier this year demolished it . The new bridges provide direct connections between Interstate 35 and U.S. 169, dedicated lanes to downtown Kansas City and a new bike/pedestrian lane. MoDOT said the flyover ramp from northbound I-35 to U.S. 169 and the shared-use path will open in the next few weeks. The project also will provide improved access to the Downtown Airport and a scenic overlook with benches and murals, officials said.

Geshon Neil, a hospitality worker on the Las Vegas Strip explained, that she has to navigate cones and fences on her way to work because of F1's setup. "I am going to be leaving work and going all the way around because they have roads closed, [and] a lot of people are late to work because of it," Neil said. She's not the only one—hotel worker Jessica Noriega is also facing difficulties. "It's insane, it's horrible there is no way to get around the traffic no matter which way you go," Noriega said. "It's good business for the town but for locals, we don't get home for hours after our shift is over." Lori Kraft-Nelson explained how they've made upgrades to their employee mobility program this year, including enhancements to buses and the monorail. "It is a park-and-ride service for all hospitality employees that work in and around the circuit if their shift is going to be impacted by road closures this has been a convenient solution to help expedite in a convenient way," Kraft-Nelson said. Starting Tuesday night, bus services will run around the clock, transporting employees between the Las Vegas Strip and the Rio, Orleans, and Las Vegas Convention Center. Jade Avedisian made jaws drop in 2023 when she won five Xtreme Outlaw midget races to become the first woman to win a national midget championship. Not only did she break down gender barriers, but she also shattered walls of speed—she easily outpaced her rival Zach Daum with fewer mistakes and greater consistency en route to the national midget title. However, we may not see this Kyle Larson-esque speedster come back for a while. Avedisian's 2024 run was considerably less sensational than 2023, as she finished in the top five three times and made the podium once. Now, another tremendous setback has afflicted the teenager in the form of a health update, which will at least temporarily pause her promising racing pursuits.Ailing health obstructing Jade Avedisian's windshield</h2> Raised in California's Central Valley as the daughter of a sprint car crew member, Jade Avedisian has visited dirt racetracks since she was a child. She watched Kyle Larson establish his racing career and soon embarked on her own milestones. At the age of 9, she won a national quarter-midget championship. Then Avedisian claimed a winged Outlaw micro sprint race at the 2020 John Hinck Championship in Missouri. She had only raced in that division once before and had no expectations, so everyone was shocked to see Avedisian leaving the racetrack with the $20,000 check in her hand. Now she drives under Keith Kunz Motorsports, the same team for whom Bell and Larson have driven midgets before. Soon after clinching the national midget championship, Toyota signed her on to compete full-time in the Toyota GR Cup Series driving a Mobil 1-sponsored Toyota GR-86 car this year. However, Jade Avedisian's transition from dirt oval racing to asphalt racing in a sports car had to screech to a halt. The promising racer posted a concerning health update on X: "It's with a heavy heart that I've decided to step away from dirt racing for the rest of the year. I've been dealing with an injury since BC39 and despite working with amazing doctors, I need time to heal properly and avoid making things worse...I need to get my body back to 100%." Yet she dropped a sliver of hope: "I know I have years ahead of me, and this is the best decision." Although Jade Avedisian recovered from a concussion she suffered in a hard crash at Farmer City Raceway in April, this new hindrance has proven crippling for her career. However, the 18-year-old's dreams are young, and there is a long way to go, as Kyle Larson pointed out earlier this year. "She's young. So she's got a long runway to keep improving and hopefully there is not much pressure on her or anything so she can just kind of be herself to learn and develop and get the experience she needs." He added, "She's got a very aggressive style and she's fun to watch," he said. Larson's approval of her aggressive style speaks volumes, as Avedisian emulates her role model in handling situations.As calm as the nascent storm</h2> Right before a thunderstorm, there is an overwhelming sense of calm. Similarly, Jade Avedisian does not react immediately to tense situations but waits to unleash a storm in her racing pursuits. This attitude closely resembles Kyle Larson 's behavior whenever tensions escalate with another racer. Denny Hamlin nudged him to seize the victory at Pocono last year. Although Larson expressed his severe displeasure, he never confronted Hamlin for a tussle. Avedisian faced a similar situation at Northern California's Placerville Speedway in 2022. Her No. 84 car got squeezed into the wall and suddenly went flipping. Her car rode the fence and cartwheeled several times before disappearing out of view. The driver behind the wreck is Tanner Karrick, driving the No. 71 dirt midget car. After emerging from her damaged vehicle, Jade Avedisian marched to the 71 as the audience waited for a heated confrontation. Yet Avedisian simply exchanged a fist bump and walked away. As a 16-year-old, she had already honed her ability to handle situations well. "Obviously, I was pretty mad, but you can't lose your head in those situations," she said of the Placerville incident. "As much as I wanted to go scream at him, you can't. (The fist bump) was my best option to still do something but not blow it up to where people were saying, 'What is she doing?' If it's a bad look for me, it's a bad look for your sponsors as well." Evidently, Jade Avedisian's cool composure is one of a kind. Her fiery mindset may propel her back to racing in no time, as soon as her ailing health recovers.

Sprint Car World Loses It’s Female Kyle Larson as Gruelling Injury Forces 18-Year-Old Sensation to Press Pause on Her Career

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The E-Scooters are back in Albuquerque. San Francisco-based Spin Scooters delivered the first batch about seven weeks ago, and company leaders say Burqueños knew exactly what to do with them."We've had over 4,000 people take a ride in the past month and a half, and over 15,000 rides too," said Kylee Floodman, a Spin Scooters' government partnerships manager.Company leaders with Spin Scooters say that's exactly what they were hoping for when they dropped off the first batch of 50 scooters in late September."We're up to about 250 right now, and our hope is to keep expanding that if we see the demand," said Floodman. She says they're also considering expanding where you can ride the scooters. Right now, they only work inside a certain area, but it seems that's where people want to use the scooters."We see the majority of the ridership is going to take place in downtown and closer to the university, but people are using it across the board, which we love to see," Floodman said. "The more that we see ridership taking place in those areas outside, we'll start moving our vehicles there." But are people who are using the scooters following all the rules this time around?"We are seeing some vandalism and some theft, but unfortunately, with our business that is something that does occur," said Floodman. But there's the silver lining."I've overseen a lot of cities in my time here at Spin. And I've, unfortunately, dealt with worse theft and worse vandalism," Floodman said. Albuquerque police reported a hit-and-run involving a scooter at Central and Broadway last Friday. But a spokesperson confirmed the victim was actually riding a skateboard, and says they're not aware of any other scooter incidents."E-scooters seem to be working well for the community. We ask that folks continue riding safely and park e-scooters at designated drop-off points, bike racks, or landscape buffers and never block the sidewalks," said Alan Varela, the city's Planning Department director. "Being able to replace maybe what would have been, you know, a mile and a half walk with a short five-minute scooter ride is really key, and people just moving around a city, and the livelihood that you have within a city. And so being able to provide that service in Albuquerque, and hopefully continue to see it grow and expand within that realm, is amazing," said Floodman.

UPDATE: The accident has been cleared. FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — An injury accident is causing slowdowns on Interstate 540 in Fort Smith, according to IDriveArkansas. The slowdown is near Exit 8A (Rogers Avenue) and affecting on-ramp and northbound traffic. The left lane is the only one affected as of 4:50 p.m. Vehicles are using the right shoulder and the right lane. Many vehicles driving northbound are using Exit 9 (Leigh Avenue/Phoenix Avenue).
