Ongoing repairs to a bridge which was hit by a lorry will require further road closures.

The bridge forms part of the A52, at the roundabout near the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, and was hit from underneath by a lorry carrying an excavator in 2018.

Repairs to the bridge began in July , with drivers warned disruption could last for a year.

In an update, National Highways said it had a number of "full road closures" scheduled between Friday, 11 October until Monday, 14 October, while work continues.

The following roads will be closed from 20:00 BST on 11 October until 06:00 on 14 October:

A52 eastbound from Priory roundabout to QMC roundabout. QMC roundabout between the A6514 Middleton Boulevard northbound entry slip road and the A6514 Middleton Boulevard southbound exit slip road. The A6514 Middleton Boulevard northbound entry slip road. The A6514/A52 between the Clifton Boulevard exit and entry slip roads and Middleton. Boulevard exit/entry slip roads. Signed diversion routes will be in place.

In an earlier update to drivers, the highways authority said on its website it had planned the work between October 4 and 7, which clashed with the city's Goose Fair and tram strikes.

A spokesperson said: "Due to collaborative working with Nottinghamshire County Council and the unforeseen industrial action, we have agreed to postpone our works until the weekend of Friday 11 October at 8pm, to Monday 14 October at 06:00."

During the work, a large crane will sit on Middleton Boulevard beneath the bridge, which will be used to remove the bridge parapet, according to the highways authority.

The repair work to the bridge is expected to last until summer 2025.
