GAITHERSBURG, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Students and staff at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) are about to experience a fresh, healthy twist on campus dining this summer.

It's all thanks to a new partnership with Dawson's Market, a community-focused natural foods store.

Dawson's Market, known for its commitment to quality food and sustainability, will take over campus dining services, offering an array of healthy options from the cafeteria to the coffee bar.

The store will also cater special events and meetings, emphasizing organic, non-GMO ingredients sourced from local farmers.

"We're so excited to be partnering with Dawson's," Dr. Anne Khademian, Executive Director of USG, said. "Not only is it great to have strong, locally sourced food options, but it's also about healthy choices and good prices."

Khademian highlighted the benefits of local sourcing, stating.

"Food sourced from the local area not only offers healthier options but also reduces travel time, ensuring fresher food. Sustainably sourced food is really important," she said.

This commitment to quality and sustainability not only guarantees top-quality food but also bolsters the local economy and minimizes environmental impact.

To celebrate this partnership, a grand opening event is planned for the fall semester.
