Richard Lee Hayes, 72, beloved father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2024 in Clinton Township, Michigan. Born November 7, 1951, in Brown City, Michigan, Richard lived a life full of love, laughter and compassion. Richard was passionate about computers, magic and model trains where he was self-taught in writing code and impeccable delivery of dozens of magic tricks. He had an insatiable appetite for information and learning. Richard spent five years in the United States Air Force during the height of the Vietnam War where he spent a year in Laos, on the border of Vietnam. He was very proud of his time spent defending the freedom of his beloved country Richard is survived by his two sons: Richard 'Eric' (Michell, nee' Lagatic) Hayes and Ryan James (Nichole, nee' Lawrence) Hayes, 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He is also survived by his former wife: Deborah Lee (nee' McBride) Hayes. He has 3 surviving sisters. Judith Morgan (Clarence), Linda McDonald, Lori Nichols (John, deceased) plus numerous nieces, grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews. A service will be held in Richard's honor at Marsh Funeral Home, 2675 Main St, Marlette, MI, 48453 on Friday, July 5 at 11am. He will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens West in a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations are made to support Parkinson's Disease research.
