4 arrested in carjacking turned chase with multiple crashes: Police

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — First News sent crews to two scenes Friday, all part of a carjacking incident turned police chase, which resulted in two crashes.

Police tell First News the incident started with a carjacking in the 400 block of Glenwood Avenue that turned into a chase through Youngstown streets.

One scene took place in the area of Olivette Court and Hughes Street. There, authorities tell First News an uninvolved vehicle was hit. The car went several feet into a nearby yard, pictured below.

A second scene took place in the area of Fairview Avenue and Hoffman Street. At this location, the vehicle involved in the carjacking collided with a fire hydrant. Police say four suspects were arrested at that scene.

The image below shows the stolen vehicle where it crashed into the fire hydrant.

A Youngstown Police Department cruiser received minor damage at some point during the pursuit, but the cause of the damage is unknown at this time.
