BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Birmingham police are working to solve four homicides in three days.

Surveillance video from the 604 Bar and Lounge on 9th Street North may help investigators who are working to determine who shot dozens of rounds into the business just before 9 p.m. on Thursday. A 35-year-old mother, Diontranet Brown was pronounced deceased at UAB Hospital after being hit by gunfire according to police.

"Based on the evidence that we uncovered with the shooter getting so close to that bar and lounge, when they fired shots, we don't believe this was random," said Truman Fitzgerald.

Investigators are still working to determine if brown was the intended target or a bystander.

CBS 42 News spoke with the victim's 15-year old son and family members on Friday afternoon who are still struggling to cope with the realization that Brown won't be here to see her son graduate from high school.

They described Brown as a single mom with a strong work ethic who held jobs as a mortician, a funeral director, and worked for Alabama Power.

Her best friend said Brown earned her associate degree from Miles College and her son described his mom as his "everything."

About three and a half hours after the shooting at the 604 Bar and Lounge, police were called to a shooting at the Third Avenue Package Store on 3rd Avenue West.

Friday morning's deadly shooting marked Birmingham's 116th homicide of the year according to Fitzgerald, compared to 94 homicides at the same time last year.
