CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - The two Canton police officers previously indicted in connection to the death of Frank Tyson while in police custody are set to be arraigned Friday morning.

On Monday, Officers Beau Schoenegge and Camden Burch waived their appearance in Stark County Court of Common Pleas for their bond hearing.

Judge Taryn Heath set bond in each case at $25,000.

Tyson's family members, as well as other Canton police officers, were inside the courtroom for Monday's hearing hearing.

Schoenegge and Burch were indicted on the charge of reckless homicide and have been at the Stark County Jail since Nov. 1.

The attorney for the Tyson family, Bobby DiCello, said at Monday's hearing he was leaving it to the court to decide the bond but asked that the presence of more than 50 officers in court not influence her decision.

If convicted on the felony charge, the officers could face up to 36 months in prison, a $10,000 fine, as well as the loss of their jobs.

Tyson, 53, died in police custody on April 18 after fleeing a traffic crash in Canton.

According to the Stark County prosecutor, Tyson ran into a nearby AMVETS club in the 1700 block of Sherrick Road SE and asked someone to call the Sheriff.

Instead, Canton police were called to the scene and when they arrived, there was a struggle inside the club.

After being taken to the ground and handcuffed lying on his stomach, Tyson told officers he couldn't breathe.

According to his family, on the police body camera, you can hear Tyson tell officers at least seven times in one minute he can't breathe.

A Canton police officer had his knee on his back at the time.

Tyson was taken to a local hospital where he died, still in handcuffs.

The Stark County Coroner's Office ruled Tyson's death a homicide, with contributing causes including acute intoxication by cocaine and alcohol and cardiopulmonary arrest.

In a press release, the attorney for Tyson's family shared their reaction to the decision to indict Schoenegge and Burch, stating they "breathe a short sigh of relief."
