The Marco Island Police Department is asking the community for assistance in tracking down an alleged vandal who targeted 16 vehicles in the Aquarius Condo Complex along South Collier Boulevard Wednesday night or Thursday morning. The graffiti included phallic symbols and racial slurs, according to the department. "Nobody should commit a crime here on the Marco Island. You may believe it's an innocent crime, but it is not an innocent crime. There's always victims," said Cpt. Davis Ennis of the Marco Island Police Department. In addition to the vehicles, the pavement at the community near Marco Island's JW Marriott was also vandalized. Marco Island police told NBC2 News that surveillance cameras for the community were unable to catch a suspect in the act. "We don't believe that it's anything more than criminal mischief, but we have increased patrols in that area, and we ask anybody if they see something, say something. It might be minor. A group of people out at night, please call us. We'd much rather check them out and make sure that there's no further damage being done," Ennis said. Police patrols in the area have been increased, according to MIPD. If you have any information about the vandalism, contact the department.
