5 Competitive Races In Elmhurst Election

Three local aldermen decided against running again in the April election.

ELMHURST, IL – The races for Elmhurst mayor and four of seven City Council seats on the ballot will be competitive in the April 1 election.

Monday was the last day to file election paperwork.

Here is the city's list of candidates:

  • Mayor: Scott Levin (incumbent) and Mark Mulliner
  • Ward 1: Brian Belanger and Imran Ali
  • Ward 2: Jacob Hill (incumbent) and Kevin Kirby
  • Ward 3: Chris Jensen (incumbent) and Onkar Sangha
  • Ward 4: Mike Baker and Robert "Bobby" Fontana
  • Ward 5: Dan Virgil and Adam Park
  • Ward 6: Emily Bastedo (incumbent)
  • Ward 7: Michael Brennan (incumbent)
  • City clerk: Jackie Haddad-Tamer (incumbent)
  • Treasurer: Dan Curran (incumbent)
  • Ward 1's Marti Deuter, Ward 4's Brian Cahill and Ward 5's Tina Park are not running again. Deuter a Democrat, plans to resign at year's end because she recently won a state House race . Park's husband, Adam Park, is running in her place.

    In previous stories , Patch noted the candidacies of non-incumbents Baker, Fontana, Park, Kirby and Virgil.

    New on the list are Belanger and Ali in Ward 1 and Sangha in Ward 3.

    Little information could be found online for the three candidates. Sangha's LinkedIn page indicates he is an insurance agent in Chicago.
