Three people are dead and eight are injured in the wake of a terror attack in Jerusalem, Reuters Thursday.

Two Palestinian gunmen from the terror group Hamas opened fire at a bus stop during morning rush hour Thursday with an M-16 rifle and a handgun. Police told Reuters the terrorists were killed moments later by off-duty soldiers and an armed civilian.

The terrorists arrived at the scene by car in the morning, armed with an M-16 rifle and a handgun," police said. "The terrorists began shooting at civilians before subsequently being killed at the scene."

Israeli media identified two of the victims as a woman in her 20s, a woman in her 60s and a 74-year-old rabbi. The gunmen were identified as brothers, 30 and 38, who were affiliated with Hamas and had been jailed in Israel before.

Video from the scene shows people running and car horns honking as the sounds of gunshots echo.

Itamin Ben-Gvir, Israel’s minister of national security, said the attack "proves again how we must not show weakness, that we must speak to Hamas only through the (rifle) scopes, only through the war."

The violence comes amid a temporary between Israel and Hamas terrorists, who on Thursday agreed to extend the six-day ceasefire in Gaza another day, just minutes before it would expire. The extra time allows negotiators to continue swapping hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

Families of Hamas hostages on Capitol Hill Wednesday to discuss the treatment of loved ones caught in the crosshairs of war. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., described their pain as unimaginable.
