AURORA, Colo. (KKTV) - At least three people were shot at a neighborhood park in Aurora over the weekend.

According to police, the investigation began at 2:15 Sunday morning when a gunshot victim walked into a local ER.

"Officers ... determined a shooting occurred earlier in the morning at Utah Park," the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.

Police went to the park, located off Peoria Street and Jewell Avenue, where they found the bodies of two more gunshot victims.

Neighbors living near the park told 11 News sister station CBS Denver that they heard gunshots just before 2 a.m., with one woman stating the noise woke her up.

"We've heard the odd shot here once in a while, police have come by before, but it's never been this bad," she said.

The park was busy with investigators for several hours, with crime tape blocking off a large section on the 46.5-acre grounds.

Aurora police say they don't believe it was a random shooting.

"Based on information developed so far, investigators believe this was an isolated incident among known parties and there is no danger to the public," the police department said.

Officers have not released any identifying information about the victims, including age or gender.

Detectives are asking anyone living near the park to check their security cameras footage from around 1:55 a.m. Sunday. Anyone with information or who finds evidence on their cameras is encouraged to call the police department at 303-627-3100 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP. Crime Stoppers tips can be made anonymously.
