A three-vehicle crash in the High Desert claimed one life on Halloween, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.

According to an SBSD media bulletin , deputies responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and Auburn Avenue in Adelanto on Thursday at 1:38 p.m. on reports of a multi-car collision.

Two of the vehicles involved – a white Chevrolet Blazer and a blue Volkswagen Golf – were found to have been involved in a separate collision that caused the Blazer to collide with head-on a semi-truck.

"Through the investigation, deputies learned the driver of a white Chevrolet Blazer merged into the southbound lanes of Highway 395, sideswiping a blue Volkswagen Golf who was traveling southbound," SBSD stated. "Both vehicles crossed into the northbound lanes...the Blazer then collided head-on with a semi-truck."
