7 events in Lancaster County this weekend, from a fall festival to return of AMT's Christmas Show

There are plenty of ways to have a good time in Lancaster County this weekend.

Events to consider adding to your calendar include the return of American Music Theatres' annual Christmas show, a comedy set, a fall-themed festival, a nostalgic fundraising event, the return of an open mic night, a craft show and a film festival.

Here are seven events to check out in Lancaster County this weekend.

'Joy to the World'

The American Music Theatre premiered its 2024 Christmas Show, "Joy to the World," Tuesday. The stage will turn into a winter carnival, and will feature a light-hearted storyline with lots of heart and humor. And, of course, plenty of familiar holiday carols and dancing.

For those who can't see the show this weekend, the production continues most days through Dec. 30.

The open mic nights at Mickey's Black Box return Thursday and continue every first and third Thursday until Dec. 12. Whether you're a performer who wants to get on stage and show the audience your material, or you're looking for a fun way to watch music for free on a Thursday night, the open mic night is fun for all parties.

Red Rose Film Festival

The Red Rose Film Festival returns this weekend, with plenty of films to check out at Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse in Lancaster city and Penn Cinema in Lititz. The festival will showcase feature films, short films and more, including the world premiere of "The Midnight Ride of Jonathan Luna," a film about Luna, a Baltimore-based federal prosecutor who was found dead in Lancaster County in 2003. At the end of the festival, there will be an awards ceremony at Penn Cinema.

Craft Show

The Winters Heritage House Museum will host its 34th annual craft show this weekend, featuring more than a dozen vendors selling products from handmade glass pieces to homemade jams and jellies. There's also a variety of items to bid on for a silent auction, with prizes for places like Tiny Town, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre and more.

Fall Fest

The North Museum of Nature & Science and the Millport Conservancy have teamed up to host an event that celebrates all-things STEM, and raises money for both organizations. Attendees will be able to go on a dig in an archaeological pit, experience a live reptile petting zoo, do astronomy experiments, learn more about birds and much more. There will also be a tasting room on site with local breweries and businesses.

Iron Leg fundraiser

Celebrate the '70s and '80s with a dance party, and help raise money for kids in need of prosthetics, too. Attendees are required to come in costume, and there will be a costume contest with prizes up for grabs. There will also be a silent auction, different memorabilia and more.

Proceeds from the event benefit local nonprofit Iron Leg.

NYC Comedy Night

The Lititz Shirt Factory will host a few comedians from New York for a two-hour set Saturday. Headlining is comedian/actor Erin Maguire, who has written for Comedy Central's roasts, and has been featured on SiriusXM, ESPN and the Game Show Network, among others.
