3 Kenosha County high school football stars from Week 6

The Kenosha News will recognize the accomplishments of football athletes from our coverage area each week.

The efforts may not be the greatest statistically but are notable. We then invite readers to vote for the Supernova, the performance that most stood out to you.

Here are this week's honorees.

Dominic Rinaldi contributes on

offense, defense

It can be difficult in a blowout to isolate an individual when so many positives are lining up. Yet that is what junior Dominic Rinaldi accomplished in St. Joseph's 64-0 win.

Rinaldi delivered on both sides of the ball. He caught three passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns as a wide receiver and was credited with two tackles but also returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown as a defensive back.

While contributions from junior quarterback Zach Rizzo (7 of 8 passing for 183 yards and two touchdowns) and junior running back Tyler Buttera Weiss (98 yards rushing on eight carries with two touchdowns) are well worth highlighting — it's impossible to not notice what was a special all-around performance by Rinaldi.

Sebastian DeRosa tosses TD pass in loss

Bradford has endured a rocky season to date: Losing its first two games, winning its following two games before getting caught in yet another two-game losing slide.

Week 6's meeting against Franklin, ranked fifth in the most recent Associated Press state poll for large division schools, never was going to be easy. But Sebastian DeRosa's efforts proved valiant in a game where the score line might not tell the full story.

The senior went 13 of 31 passing for 169 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also caught a pass for 15 yards and was credited on defense with two tackles, including a sack, in the 38-7 loss.

Landon Taylor reaches rushing milestone

Westosha Central proved to be this week's road warrior by coming away with its second straight win and second straight road victory.

Senior running back Landon Taylor led the Falcons' rushing attack. He ran for 216 of the team's 308 yards and scored one of the three rushing touchdowns.

Taylor has rushed for more than 100 yards in all six games this season. He has averaged 150.5 yards on the ground, and Friday proved to be his masterpiece. It was his 10th game with at least 100 yards on the ground but first with at least 200 yards.

Supernova voting

Congratulations to Shoreland Lutheran's Riley Jacobsen, last week's supernova with 53.5% of the vote. Vote for this week's winner.
