2 people, 2 dogs escape South Haven Township house fire

ich. (WOOD) — Authorities say two people and two dogs safely escaped a fire at a home near South Haven.

The South Haven Area Emergency Services said it received a report of the fire at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at a home on 73rd Street near 6th Avenue in South Haven Township.

When authorities arrived, SHAES said flames were coming from the home. The fire spread to a trailer behind the home. Two people and two dogs escaped the home safely.

The residents told authorities that they were awakened by an explosion, according to a news release.

SHEAS said firefighters were on the scene for more than three hours. The cause of the fire is unknown.
