3 rescued off North Shore after boat capsizes due to high winds

WAIALUA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Three residents, including one child, were rescued in the waters off Waialua Beach Park on Sunday, Nov. 17 after their boat capsized.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to a call from a Good Samaritan around 3:30 p.m. for a hobie craft that was flipped upside down due to high winds.

The boat suffered a broken mast.

Witnesses said the mast broke after the boat operator attempted to flip it right side up.

Lifeguards brought the two adult males and a 10-year-old boy to shore via jet ski.

No injuries were reported.
