A.Lee3 hr ago
(KEYC) - Motorists traveling on the stretch of Hwy 22 between Mankato and St. Peter will be advised to use extra caution starting Monday, Nov. 18.

Starting on that day, a tree clearing project will begin in preparation for construction in the area. The tree clearing project is expected to last until late in December, before the construction project begins.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the construction project is expected to last for about two years, finishing up sometime in 2026. The project will include adding new turn and passing lanes, among other new reconstructions.

The stretch of Hwy 22 affected will go from Blue Earth County Road in Mankato to the Minnesota River Bridge just south of St. Peter.

Motorists can expect lane closures and should keep an eye out for flaggers along this stretch of Hwy 22.

Traffic along this stretch will also be detoured while Hwy 22 is closed.{/p/p}
