Good Morning Britain sparked huge backlash on Monday after airing a segment surrounding the recent burglary at Windsor Castle , as viewers fumed they were 'getting their priorities mixed up'. Hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley began the show discussing the top stories in the news, including the royal raid that took place on October 13. Masked men scaled a 6ft fence to sneak onto the estate, while Prince William and Princess Kate and their children George, 11, Charlotte, nine and Louis, six, were thought to have been peacefully asleep in their cottage just five minutes away. The two men reportedly used a stolen truck to smash through a security gate before stealing farm vehicles and driving off in a pick-up and on a quad bike that they took from a barn at Shaw Farm. But as Susanna and Richard discussed the break-in on the ITV breakfast show, viewers blasted them as 'disrespectful' for placing so much time on the topic, when ordinary people are frequently burgled and ignored, saying 'welcome to our world'. They took to social media to fume: 'See you getting your priorities mixed up? Shouldn't potential WW3 be top of the list?' 'My neighbours house was broken into last month & personal items & a car stolen, it's a s****er when their isn't enough police to go around isn't it. Let me know if you want to come around with your cameras & do an interview & I will pass on their details.' 'Appears you're very willing to report all sorts about the royals but only if it's positive; Wonder how many ordinary folk were broken into, mugged, defrauded on the same night.' 'Maybe now they will realise what the rest of us plebs are having to deal with! Welcome to the real world; Loads of people have their houses broken into. We've been burgled 3 times.' 'Anyone else would have got a crime number; Another royal news story to try and make people go 'aw', yet I'm still waiting for you to even mention the C4 Dispatches investigation. 'Can't believe that a break in on a farm that happened 3 weeks ago is the main story over Bidens actions that could start another world war ? The farm is quite a distance from the royal cottage and they weren't targeted. Farms are suffering theft all the time but no police!' '3 weeks ago! Ffs can't be that important if you're just reporting it; We don't want hear about privilege people. Welcome to the real world.' 'The rest of us don't get police help for burglary so why should they on a farm in the grounds. Didn't the royal family want to be part of British life?' 'So what about all the other people that have had their properties burgled? How dare you make this out to be a big news story, when people can't even get a police investigation, talk about disrespectful to others, shame on you Police confirmed that a break-in had occurred, with the intruders getting away with a pick-up and a quad bike. The now-wrecked gate they used to break-in is the nearest exit to Adelaide Cottage and Will and Kate and their children are often seen using it to come and go. A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: 'At around 11.45pm on Sunday October 13, we received a report of burglary at a property on Crown Estate land near to the A308 in Windsor. 'Offenders entered a farm building and made off with a black Isuzu pick-up and a red quad bike. They then made off towards the Old Windsor/Datchet area. No arrests have been made at this stage and an investigation is ongoing.' Armed officers had previously been removed from the public entrances to the castle, but the officers are still thought to be present, patrolling the grounds of the estate. A source told The Sun the masked thieves must have been 'watching Windsor Castle for some time'. They said : 'There are alarms at Windsor Castle but the first time anyone knew there was a break-in was when they crashed through the security barrier at Shaw Farm Gate exit. 'It was a Sunday night on a school week so the young princess and princess would have been tucked in bed at Adelaide Cottage, just around the corner but still in the grounds.'
