4 Shore Line East trains added to schedule
NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — The Shore Line East Rail Line is adding new trains for commuters due to $5 million in funding secured during the legislative session earlier this year.
Starting Oct. 7, if you're heading westbound, commuters can catch a train leaving at 5:46 a.m. and arrive in Stamford just before 8 a.m.
Another option if heading out from New London at night is a train that departs at 9:05 p.m. and arrives in New Haven around 10:11 p.m.
Restoring the Shore Line East: Lawmakers push for improved train service
If traveling eastbound, a new early-morning train will leave New Haven at 4:25 a.m. and arrive in New London just before 5:30 a.m. An evening train at 7:45 p.m. gets into New London at around 8:50 p.m.
This comes after some said service had dropped significantly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then there were funding cuts, some say impacting ridership and riders' experience.
