If you happened to eat at a certain Illinois steakhouse recently, you should know that there are 70 people who have fallen ill including many serious enough to be hospitalized after eating there.

Food Safety News shared the alarming report about 70 cases of people getting sick after exposure to Shigella bacteria . As of this writing, there are 44 people who have been confirmed with the infection with another 24 having symptoms. 9 individuals have sickness so severe they have been hospitalized.

The one thing all of these sick Illinoisans have in common was they ate at this Longhorn Steakhouse in Fairview Heights, Illinois .

The report says that the age of those who have become sick after eating at this restaurant vary from 12 years old all the way up to 80 years of age. The restaurant was closed for a period of time so it could be sanitized and staff have been tested multiple times to verify they are bacteria-free.

Mayo Clinic says that Shigella bacteria is a sickness in the intestine. They warn to watch out for symptoms that include "diarrhea that can be bloody or long lasting...fever and stomach pain". Many of the cases of this infection will clear up in a week, but it can become severe and require hospitalization like has happened in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
