Seaside Park police officers and firefighters rescued three swimmers struggling in the ocean off unguarded beaches in the past week, officials said.

The most recent rescue took place Thursday when officers Mason Kinlan and Luke Cox saw two people stuck in a rip current about 50 yards off the 2nd Avenue Beach while patrolling on quads, according to police.

Seaside Park firefighters helped the two officers bring the swimmers to shore. Both police officers and one of the swimmers were brought to an area hospital to be checked. Kinlan and Cox were treated and released.

The first rescue took place on Sept 13. along the Stockton Avenue beach. Officers Dakota Giglio and Bryan Urspruch raced off their quads and swam 100 yard to help a person in distress. The officers safely brought the swimmer to shore.

Seaside Park police couldn't immediately be reached for additional information.

Rip current warnings have been in effect along the Jersey Shore for much of the week. There remains a high rip current risk through Saturday evening.

Nearly all beaches in New Jersey, including those in Seaside Park, have been unguarded since the day after Labor Day.
