Armed man shot, killed by Omaha Police on Saturday An Omaha man was shot and killed by a police officer on Saturday night.

Officials say that Steven Phipps, 22, allegedly got out of the car during a traffic stop after officers asked him to remain in the vehicle.

Body-worn camera footage has video of Phipps pulling out a handgun.

Both officers at the incident are set to be interviewed. OPD will then hold a news conference for new information.

This incident comes a month after Officer Adam Veil shot and killed Cameron Ford, an unarmed suspect, during a no-knock search warrant.

Decision 2024: Early voting ballots distributed Monday in Douglas County The 2024 Presidential Election is a little over a month away!

Early voting ballots will be making their way Monday to Douglas County residents who filled out the application.

The Douglas County Election Commission has more information on who and what will be voted on.

All three issues regarding abortion and school choice will be appearing on the November ballot, as voted on by the Nebraska Supreme Court.

The upcoming election marks Nebraska's first general election with voter ID.

Nebraska crews responding to Hurricane Helene AP reports that as of Monday, Hurricane Helene's death toll has raised to nearly 100.

Water and supplies are being rushed to communities isolated after " Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction across the U.S. Southeast," AP says.

Crews from OPPD are helping restore power in the wake of Helene. They say they have been working to restore around four million outages in West Virginia.

Nebraska Task Force One and Lincoln Electric System sent crews to respond to power restoration and water rescues.

City council to vote Tuesday on 'Dogtopia' issue On Tuesday, the Omaha City Council will be voting on a long-awaited resolution to an issue with a dog daycare in northwest Omaha.

The owner of the Dogtopia location says that a city inspector told him the outdoor play area violates city zoning rules.

This battle has sparked a call by Council Member Aimee Melton to revise the city's master plan with new zoning rules about pet services.

The final city council vote on Dogtopia was scheduled for September 17th but was postponed to October 1st.

Weekly gas prices update in Omaha-metro Average gas prices in Omaha have risen 13.8 cents per gallon in the last week.

A GasBuddy price report found that gas is now averaging $2.98 a gallon today. They surveyed 300 stations in Omaha.

"Prices in Omaha are 2.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 67.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago," GasBuddy reports.
