Domestic violence incident leads to officer-involved shooting Two people are injured after an officer-involved shooting that stemmed from a domestic violence incident in South Omaha. Although police are investigating the incident, they believe that the woman may have been held against her will in a closet. Officers responded to a domestic violence call at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near South 43rd and Frances Street. When they arrived, police say they heard gunfire and a woman screaming from a closet. OPD officers "immediately opened the closet door," and two of them fired their guns, a report says. The woman was taken out of the closet and to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man is in the hospital with extremely critical injuries. New details Thursday of shooting of Omaha HS special-education teacher On Thursday, we are expecting new details on the shooting of an Omaha high school special-education teacher at her Sarpy County home. Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis is holding a news conference at 10:30 a.m. to release what the investigation has found thus far. Rebecca Geiger was reportedly shot and killed by her husband Rory on Oct. 28 in what began as a domestic violence incident. "There was gunfire initiated by a subject from inside the house — out the plate glass window. One of our officers returned fire," Davis said in an update. Life saving measures were performed on Rory, but he was also pronounced dead. Mrs. Geiger had just started her 10th year at Westside High School. Vargas and Bacon race still not called The winner of the tight race between Rep. Don Bacon and State Sen. Tony Vargas for the 2nd Congressional District seat has yet to be officially announced. Still, Bacon has claimed victory as the final voter tallies are pending. In their latest update , AP has Bacon at 51.4% and Vargas at 48.6%. Vargas was slightly leading totals into the latest hours of Election Night, but totals Wednesday morning pointed to sending Bacon back to Washington. The rematch between the two candidates has been playing out in ways reminiscent of the same race two years ago. What's next for medical marijuana in Nebraska Both Nebraska medical marijuana measures have passed after Tuesday's voting — but the issue isn't yet fully decided. More than 70% of Nebraskans voted in favor of legalizing medical marijuana. However, Judge Susan Strong is expected to rule on the validity of petition signatures this month. "For every ten Nebraskans who voted, seven said "yes," and it didn't matter whether those votes were coming from rural or urban areas. Eastern Nebraska, Western Nebraska, city, country — all staunchly in support of the initiative," Reporter Brian Mastre says. A decision needs to be made before the results are certified on Dec. 2. If even 3,500 signatures are determined to be tainted , Tuesday's results may be voided. Biden to give remarks Thursday following Trump's win Donald Trump has won back the presidency. In his first appearance since Trump's victory, President Biden will deliver remarks Thursday morning at about 10 a.m. CT. AP reports that with Trump's return, he will want an entirely new administration from that of Biden. "The president-elect now has a 75-day transition period to build out his team before Inauguration Day arrives on Jan. 20," AP says. Republicans looking to win the House Republicans have won control of the U.S. Senate, announced early Wednesday. AP reports that control over the U.S. House of Representatives is going back and forth between a Republican or Democratic majority. "A few individual seats, or even a single one, will determine the outcome . Final tallies will take a while, likely pushing the decision into next week — or beyond," AP reports.
