Aaron Rodgers issues ominous Allen Lazard warning to the NFL after Jets' thumping win over the Patriots

Aaron Rodgers has issued an ominous warning to the rest of the NFL about his thriving relationship with Jets receiver Allen Lazard.

It came after the former Green Bay teammates combined for the first touchdown of the night as the New York Jets blew away the New England Patriots 24-3 on Thursday.

The home victory came 12 months after Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into his Jets debut against the Bills at MetLife Stadium.

The 40-year-old quarterback, who had a tense exchange with coach Robert Saleh on the sideline , showed no signs of the injury though as he sliced through New England's defense with surgical precision.

Rodgers finished 27 of 35 for 281 yards with touchdown tosses to Garrett Wilson and Lazard and heard chants of 'Aa-ron! Rod-gers!' throughout.

The Lazard touchdown continued the receiver's resurgence in New Jersey after a disappointing first season that saw him struggle without Rodgers at quarterback.

Rodgers and Lazard, who joined on a four-year, $44million contract last year, built up a strong partnership at the Packers and the early signs are positive this season.

He managed just 23 receptions on 49 targets and 311 yards last season. Already he has three touchdowns this time around.

When asked about his relationship with Lazard after the game, Rodgers told Amazon Prime: 'I think that's just the beauty of this game. I've been fortunate to be a part of it for a long time.

'Allen and I have got a real good rapport and once 5 (Lazard's number) and I get on that same page it's going to be special.'

New York, which stopped a 15-game skid against New England in Bill Belichick's final game as the Patriots' coach, sacked Jacoby Brissett five times in a dominant defensive display.

Breece Hall also ran for a score for the Jets, who also snapped a six-game skid in Thursday night games.

Rodgers continued: 'Felt great to be able to play an entire game in front of our amazing fans. Division opponent. We started faster than we have been.

'We were way more efficient, got a lot of guys involved, a lot of guys made a lot of plays tonight. The line did a great job up front. We had to finish plays but we did a good job of that.

'I felt pretty good tonight. I was doing some things I did as a younger man. I've said as the games go on I'm going to feel more comfortable moving around a little bit and there were a couple of times when I needed to extend plays.

'The line did a good job holding up, I extended a couple to keep drives going and sometimes in games like this you need those little extra plays. I used to do a lot when I was a younger player and it's nice to have that element back.

'We're trying to change this whole attitude around here. We're trying to build something special here and get these fans to believe in us.

'They've been tortured for a long time. Last year was obviously a tough year but it's good to be back, good to be healthy.

'Again, so many people I'm thankful for, who got me healthy and to this point but it's great to be a Jet, great to have nights like this and even better to have a weekend off.'
