Aberdeen Shooter Who Stalked, Shot Longtime Friend Convicted An Aberdeen man has been found guilty in the shooting of his longtime friend. He has been convicted of numerous charges.ABERDEEN, MD — A 46-year-old Aberdeen man who prosecutors said stalked his longtime friend and shot him multiple times has been convicted of attempted murder and other charges. The injured friend survived several gunshot wounds to testify in the case.
The shooting victim was found Aug. 21, 2022, in a grassy area between 220 Mayberry Drive and 230 Mayberry Drive in Aberdeen by Harford County sheriff's deputies. The man had been shot multiple times in his arms, legs and hands.
Prosecutors said the victim identifed his friend of 20 years, Kory Putney, as the shooter.
Investigators spotted the victim on surveillance video leaving an apartment on Mayberry Drive. He was followed by a man in a hoodie who left the same apartment with a handgun in his hand, who was later identified as Putney.
"Numerous challenges were presented in this case, but with thorough case preparation and the strong working relationships of our law enforcement partners, we were able to ensure that justice was served today," State's Attorney Alison Healey stated."We look forward to January, when, yet another violent criminal will be removed from the streets of Harford County for decades to come."
