Adena Ishii emerges as new leader in Berkeley mayoral race after latest election results

erkeley's mayoral race in last week's election has a new leader after the latest results released by the Alameda County Registrar of Voters.
Adena Ishii had 24,265 votes after four rounds of ranked choice voting, 51.2% of the votes tallied so far as of Friday afternoon, compared to Sophie Hahn's 23,120 or 48.8%.
Hahn, a Berkeley city councilmember, was in the lead on Election Night but Ishii, a former law clerk turned education consultant, overtook her in the latest vote count in both ranked choice voting and most first-place votes.
The results are still unofficial and the county plans to release its next update on the vote count Wednesday.
