elle La still has a slim lead in the race for the District 1 City Council seat in Pleasant Hill, according to the latest vote tally released by Contra Costa County election officials.

La's lead over Marshall Lewis increased from 24 votes on Wednesday to 25 Friday, 1,218 to 1,193, or 50.2% to 49.48%.

It's been a back-and-forth race since Election Night, when Lewis led. La came back the next day to lead by eight votes. Lewis led by eight votes on Nov. 8. Five days later, La was up again, 50.5% to 49.5% (1,216 votes to 1,192 votes).

The totals are not yet official.

In Pleasant Hill's District 5, Amanda Szakats still had a solid lead Friday over Oliver Greenwood (54.47% to 45.53%).

The city moved from at-large to district-based elections this year and they are happening in two phases. Districts 1, 2 and 5 officially come into existence in December, when the three new councilmembers are sworn in after the election.

Since Andrei Obolenskiy was the only candidate to file papers for the new District 2 seat, the council decided in August to appoint him to the post. He'll be seated with the two other new council members in December.

Districts 3 and 4 come into play in 2026.

Three current councilmembers live in the future District 3 of Councilmember Zac Shess, whose term doesn't expire until 2026. Councilmember Sue Noack's term is also up in 2026.
