WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The principal and vice principal for Fausey Elementary School camped out on the roof Sunday night.

This after the school's booster fun-run raised more than their $12,000 goal, reaching nearly $14,000.

The administrators surveyed the students and asked them as a reward if they'd like them to take part in an ice bucket challenge or sleep on the school's roof.

A majority of students voted for the school's principal and vice principal to sleep on the roof.

Sunday evening student's stopped by to wave at them from afar.

"I think they're just going to secretly go downstairs and leave the roof, so I wanted to set up a security camera but I don't have one. So I hope they stay up their because I don't want them to break that promise," says Mackenna Long, a student at Fausey Elementary School.

Both the principal and vice principal say they are overjoyed the school was able to raise funds and surpass their goal.

"Mr. Thomas had provided the students with a choice, so the booster staff came to us and asked if it was an ice bucket challenge or the principal and vice principal would sleep on the roof. So we gave the students the choice and they went to all the classrooms and buildings and they surveyed them and that's what they picked... camping on the roof," says Principal Suzanne Tetrault.
