After getting lost in the woods for 2 months, Siamese cat travels 1200 miles to return home

A cat who went lost in Yellowstone National Park surprised animal lovers by going over 1,200 miles to reconnect with his owners after two months away. According to an animal protection organization, Rayne Beau, a two-and-a-half-year-old Siamese cat, had his microchip to help him on his incredible adventure.

Where did the cat run into the woods?

Susanne and Benny Anguiano of Salinas, California, were at Fishing Bridge RV Park on June 4 when Rayne Beau disappeared. The couple's journey turned disastrous when the cat, spooked by something, raced into the woods. "My husband is my hero because he went out into the woods daily for hours looking for him," Susanne told CNN station KSBW.

Despite their best efforts to entice Rayne Beau with his favourite food and toys, the pair were disappointed. "We had to leave without him. That was the most difficult day because I felt like I was letting him down," Anguiano recounted.

How was the cat found?

After 61 days of uncertainty, the Anguianos were notified that a cat with Rayne Beau's microchip identification number had been found. He was discovered in Roseville, California, around 190 miles from his hometown.

Rayne Beau was taken to the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Roseville and checked by officials. Executive Director Leilani Fratis verified that the cat was found in bad health but is currently recovering.

Rayne Beau travelled over 1,200 miles from Wyoming to Roseville before returning to Salinas. While the couple is unsure how he made the trip back to California, they are relieved to have him home.
