After Sparking Outrage Over BYU ‘Disrespect’; CBS Makes a Bold Claim at Tennessee & Hurricanes’ Expense

A.Wilson34 min ago
As time passes, the competition to secure a favorable position in the playoff rankings is intensifying. The teams not only exhibit strong competitiveness but also deliver impressive performances. Among these teams, the BYU Cougars stand out as undefeated and a formidable contender for winning the league. However, it appears that these achievements alone may not be sufficient to earn them a spot in the CFP ranking, as per CBS Sports. Interestingly, there have been recent developments where CBS Sports has revised its previous stance on this matter. Surprising, isn't it?

Today, CBS Sports took to their official Instagram account to cover their past mistake of not giving a single rank to the BYU Cougars but by taking an indirect shot at Tennessee and Miami's team, saying, "I'm fascinated to see where the CFP Committee ranks BYU in its first ranking. Their wins are much better than Miami, Penn State, and Tennessee, and they're still undefeated. Don't really get why they're so low in the AP." Now that the playoff committee will finally release their rankings on Tuesday, there is a chance that BYU will finally get a well-deserving spot in it, unlike in the AP poll.

Currently, the BYU Cougars are given a no. 9 ranking on the AP poll representation. Despite being an undefeated team this season, the team finds it hard to get a decent spot in the ongoing season. Surprising right? A week ago, CFB Sports also failed to give any rankings to the Cougars; on top of that, they gave the top ten rankings to Miami and Penn State, and today, they suddenly felt that they no longer deserved a spot in the top Big 12 teams. It looks like something is not right with them.

However, this sudden shift of opinion might be possible after facing a massive troll over the fact. Well, it's quite weird to miss out on a team like the BYU Cougars. The team is not only standing on an 8-consecutive win streak this season but also holds a strong chance of winning the tournament. How can someone miss out on that? But unlike CBS Sports and their analyst, there are other analysts who think BYU can get decent rankings in the CFP projections.

BYU Cougars getting playoff hype The BYU Cougars' recent win of 37-24 against the UCF Knights has not only strengthened their playoff hopes but has also highlighted them as one of the top-ranked preseason teams among the Big 12 teams. Even ESPN's analyst Kyle Bonagura expressed his opinion on the team getting a No. 4 projection in the CFP rankings and might also win this season.

Well, that's a straight fact. The team is coming off great in terms of their gameplay, as every player is in their best form. And one among them is BYU's star quarterback Jake Retzlaff, who threw for 228 yards with two touchdowns against the Knights.

However, apart from this, a much less known fact came into light after Saturday's game of CFB, which might also boost the BYU Cougars' chances in the playoff rankings. interesting right? This week, Texas Tech went up against the undefeated Iowa State, but the team ended up losing against them by a one-point margin.

After this, the team currently stands on a 4-1 streak in Big 12 play, while the BYU Cougars are on a 5-0 streak. Now you can understand how well this stat will help the Cougars to secure a top rank in the playoffs. For now, let's see in what position the Cougars ultimately land.
