GRAND ISLAND — Albert E. "Al" Ziola, 68, of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Service and celebration of Al's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army and Grand Island Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Al was born January 11, 1956, in Grand Island, the son of Clem and June (Modesitt) Ziola. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Senior High, class of 1974.

He immediately enlisted in the United States Army on June 27, 1974, and was honorably discharged in 1977.

On May 31, 1996, Al married Bernie (Lubash) Adams, welcoming also her two children, Tera and Matthew. Al was an employee of Grand Island City Utilities for 25 years, retiring in 2022.

He was proud to be a member of the American Legion, NRA and Grand Island Rifle Club. He loved football and was an avid fan of Nebraska Huskers and the Chiefs. He also enjoyed target shooting, listening to music, playing golf and collecting coins. Al took great pride in his yard and kept it immaculate.

Al had a great sense of humor, loved his family and above all loved Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior.

Those who cherish Al's memory include his wife, Bernie; a daughter and son-in-law, Tera and Dusty Weekley; two son and a daughter-in-law, Phil Ziola and Kyle and Cindy Ziola; his grandchildren, Austin, Caroline, Abby, Thomas, Trinity, Hunter, Bryson, Tierra, Josh and Lynsey; and three great-grandchildren, Mateo, Milo and Luna.

He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Lynn Ziola; and two sisters, Deb Ziola and Judy Ziola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Matthew Adams.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
