CHICAGO — A federal grand jury in Chicago indicted an alleged security chief in the infamous Sinaloa Cartel who worked for El Chapo and his sons.

Jose Angel Canobbio Inzunza allegedly served as an advisor, lieutenant and security chief for El Chapo's son Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar and his other brothers following the conviction of the notorious drug lord in 2019.

The indictment states he began his involvement with the Guzman faction of the cartel, which was previously led by El Chapo, beginning around 2002.

Canobbio Inzunza is accused of conspiring with the brothers, who are known as the "Chapitos." All three, Ivan, Ovidio and Jesus were charged in April 2023 along with 25 other cartel members.

The only brother who currently in custody is Ivan after all three were charged in April 2023 by the federal authorities.

A $10,000,000 reward is available for Ivan and Jesus for information leading to their arrests and convictions.

According to the indictment returned Monday, Canobbio Inzunza allegedly financed and led the armed security group "Los Chimales." The group is accused of engaging in armed conflict on the group's behalf.

Federal authorities have targeted alleged drug trafficking by Canobbio Inzunza and not something directly violent.

He has been charged with drug conspiracy for allegedly manufacturing fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana into the United States.

Canobbio Inzunza is currently not in custody and a warrant has been issued.
