Andrew J. Lewis, of Dana Street, Swoyersville, formerly of Philadelphia,
died Wednesday at Hospice Care of the VNA Inpatient Unit at Heritage House,
Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Swoyersville, he was a son of the late Sylvester and Agnes (Coutts)
Lewis. He was a graduate of Girard Hig~~h School, Philadelphia, and attended
Swarthmore College. He was an employment interviewer at the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania Job Center, Wilkes-Barre, before retiring in 1995. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Holy Name-St. Mary’s Church,
Shoemaker Street, Swoyersville, and the American Legion Post 644,
Swoyersville.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Gerald.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Rose Marie Zaleppa;
daughters, Dolores Rozelle, Exeter; and Andrea, at home; two grandchildren;
brother, Brycecq, Shavertown, Kingston Township; sisters, Elizabeth Sentigar,
Swoyersville; and Barbara Cosloskey, Luzerne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Joseph L. Wroblewski
Funeral Home, 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. at Holy Name-St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s
Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
