Angelina Jolie Beams With Pride Beside Son Knox in Rare Public Outing
Angelina Jolie has stepped out in style in a rare public outing with her son
Arriving arm-in-arm with Knox, 16, to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 15th Annual Governors Awards' red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 17, Jolie, 49, beamed with pride.
Knox, one of six children Jolie shares with Brad Pitt and the twin brother of Vivienne, revealed a significant growth spurt during the appearance, appearing taller than his famous mother who wore high heels to the event.
The pair posed for photographs on the ceremony's red carpet as Jolie, dressed in a gold floor-length gown paired with a statement silver necklace and drop earrings, kept an arm on her son, looking over to smile at him at one stage as he stood comfortably in front of the cameras.
Knox's return to the red carpet comes more than three years since his last appearance , which was in October 2021 when his siblings Maddox, 23, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Vivienne, attended the London premiere of Jolie's Marvel film Eternals. (Pax, 20, was absent from the premiere at the time.)
Knox matched his mom's glamorous attire at his more recent red carpet outing, sporting a slick buzz cut and a black tuxedo.
The pair's date night comes after Jolie recently revealed that her children are unlikely to follow in her and their father's acting footsteps. "No, I think they're especially shy, very private people," Jolie told E! News at the AFI premiere of her new film Maria on October 26. "They want to be private."
Although the childrens' professional ambitions might steer them clear of the spotlight, many of them have proved an ongoing support to Jolie's film career. Maddox, Pax and Zahara stepped out with Jolie at the New York Film Festival in September as Maria screened at the event.
"It's meant everything," Jolie told Extra at the time while reflecting on her childrens' support. "Before you get out in these things, you're as nervous. They just said, 'No matter what, Mom, good luck and we know how hard you work and we love you.' You know, you just have that moment where the people who are with you tell you, succeed or fail, they care about you."
While onscreen pursuits may be unlikely, Jolie's two eldest children served behind the scenes on Maria, assisting director Pablo Larrain as he worked on the film, which charts the life of opera singer Maria Callas.
"Mad and Pax were on this one doing AD [assistant directing] work," Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter in August. "They've done that quite a few times, and I think that's good for them. Pax tends to do stills and he gets brought in, and Pablo was wonderful and recognized that he was good at it."
Vivenne has also joined her mom on various projects, helping Jolie produce The Outsiders on Broadway, which premiered in April, and appearing as a young version of Elle Fanning's Aurora in Jolie's 2014 film Maleficent.
As for Knox, the teen voiced a small role in 2016's Kung Fu Panda 3, playing the character of Ku Ku, while his mother voiced Tigress in the film.
