Animals saved from fire in Berlin commercial building

BERLIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Two animals were saved from a commercial building's damaging fire Saturday, according to Berlin fire officials.

Fire crews were dispatched around 4:44 p.m. to 369 New Britain Rd. for report of smoke from the second floor of the commercial building there.

One scene, crews found the fire in a second-floor business of the structure had burned through the roof and was burning the rubber roofing material.

The remainder of the building was damaged by water and smoke.

Two animals in the building's "Animal Hospital of Berlin" were removed and are safe, fire officials. said.

Man injured after car jumps sidewalk in Hartford

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Berlin Fire Marshals Office.
