The Alaska Division of Elections tallied 677 votes Thursday from nine rural Alaska precincts as Election Day ballot counting nears an end.
Four of the state's 403 precincts remain uncounted. Votes cast on Election Day in Akiachak, Nulato, Savoonga and Atqasuk have not been tallied, according to precinct-level data published by the division. It was not immediately clear when those votes would be counted.
Thursday's newly counted votes did not change the leaders of any races but notably narrowed the lead of the ballot measure seeking to repeal ranked choice voting. "Yes" on repeal now outnumbers "no" by just 4,122 votes out of 246,856 cast on the issue.
At least 46,000 ballots cast before Election Day will be added to the state's tally starting Nov. 12, according to estimates of uncounted early and absentee votes.
That figure does not include questioned ballots, votes cast on Election Day with possible problems or by voters whose ID could not be immediately verified.
