KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Army reservist is searching for an innocent bystander involved in a hit-and-run to help fix her car. AirTags helped to track down a stolen truck, which was totaled after it T-boned another car at a busy intersection. Tuesday evening, Isaiah Steward was leaving work at a security systems supplier when he ran into a bigger problem. "I walked out with a coworker and looked at him for a second," he explained. "I was like, 'Hey man, I think my car is missing.'" "I was like, 'They might just continue down 435 and may never come back,'" he said. The next morning, Steward says he went to see if it was still there and to alert the police yet again. However, the driver spotted him and took off, speeding in the rain. "No traction the entire way," said Steward. "I watched him run through red lights. Hearing the tire spinning on wet asphalt followed by the sudden stopping and the blow-out accident noise, it didn't leave much for the imagination." The truck had T-boned another car at the E. 26th and Colorado intersection and the driver ran away. However, the car that got hit also drove off. "I don't know if she didn't know what was going on, if she just got scared," said Stewart. "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to contact her I didn't have any information, any insurance information." Steward, an Army mechanic, says he's set up a to help get a new car. He also wants to find the woman and pay for her repairs, or even fix the car himself. "She's truly a victim of circumstance, I feel more so than myself," he described. "I can help her, I know I can help I just need to find out who she is." Steward claims the car may be a 2011 Ford Explorer or Chevy Trailblazer in a graphite color. The driver was described as a black woman.
