Arnold woman dies in Jefferson County crash

ARNOLD — An Arnold woman died Thursday in a Jefferson County crash after she pulled into the path of another vehicle near a shopping plaza, officials said.
Jane E. Birkenbach, 71, was pronounced dead at 1:23 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 61 and Village Plaza, just south of Arnold, according to a preliminary report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Officials said Birkenbach was driving eastbound in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu when she failed to yield to a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, which struck her vehicle on the left side.
Officials said Birkenbach wasn't wearing a seat belt.
