El Paso police confirm that the 36-year-old man arrested in late October was wanted in connection to the deadly crash that took the life of a 51-year-old Juarez woman and a 10-year-old boy from El Paso.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Alden Arturo Amaro in central El Paso, as he was wanted for his involvement in a deadly crash from May 21, 2023, that killed two of his passengers, a Juarez woman and a kid from El Paso, and injured four, a 52-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy from Juarez, and a 20-month-old boy and a 5-year-old boy from El Paso.

According to traffic investigators, the crash happened in northeast El Paso, near Dyer and Transmountain.

Investigators believe Amaro, driving a black 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck down Dyer, made a left turn onto Transmountain and crashed into another pickup truck, a black 2016 Ford F-250 Supercab driven by a 27-year-old man.

Amaro and the other driver were also injured.

Amaro was captured at the 4800 block of Alameda Ave., near the University Medical Center of El Paso and Thomas Jefferson High School.

Amaro was reportedly taken into custody without incident and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility downtown with a bond set at $160,000.

However, that same day, Amaro bonded out.

Amaro is facing the following charges:

  • Two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.
  • Two counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle.
