Vegetation fire breaks out in rural SLO County

Cal Fire responded to reports of a vegetation fire near Soda Lake on Wednesday afternoon.

According to emergency services app PulsePoint, at around 3:30 p.m. Cal Fire received a report of a vegetation fire in progress near the intersection of Soda Lake Road and Seven Mile Road in California Valley, near the Carrizo Plain National Monument.

Multiple units were dispatched to the scene of the fire shortly afterward, including an air-to-ground unit, a water tanker and several fire engines, according to PulsePoint.

As of 3:38 p.m., the fire was around one and a half acres in size, spreading at a moderate rate. It was eventually contained at 4.25 acres, according to the Watch Duty app.
