They all showed up at the Department of Human Resources Office on Monday asking about funds that had vanished from their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program accounts.
One of those people said she found out when her SNAP card was declined while trying to buy groceries.
"I had a basket full of stuff, and the lady said there isn't anything on your card, and I know I get mine every month on the fourth, faithfully," Pamela West said.
Another woman who didn't want to reveal her identity said a DHR worker told her someone in New York had used her account several times draining more than $700 from her SNAP account.
"I mean as soon as I walked in, all the chairs were full, and they finally came out and said, 'Who's here for fraudulent?' And literally everyone in the room raised their hand," she said. "I mean it was the same story for everyone."
WKRG found several others at the DHR office with similar complaints all with fraudulent transactions from Bronx, New York.
An employee at the Mobile office referred WKRG to the state office in Montgomery. News 5 has reached out to find out more about the missing money including how many other people might be impacted.
