Auburn public affairs programs to feature new school superintendent, more

Cayuga Community College public affairs programming will return this week after a summer hiatus.

"Inside Government with Guy Cosentino" will welcome Cayuga Community College President Brian Durant on Tuesday, Sept. 24. He will give an update on the college, including its new strategic plan, enrollment, the workforce development facility on Grant Avenue and the new law enforcement academy in Fulton. The show will air at 7 that night and again at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, on Spectrum channel 12. It will replay at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29, on Spectrum channels 12 and 98 and Verizon Fios channel 31 from Auburn Regional Media Access.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, "Inside Government" will feature Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci for an update on the work of her office. The show will air at 7 that night and again at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, on Spectrum channel 12. It will replay at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29, on Spectrum channels 12 and 98 and Verizon Fios channel 31 from Auburn Regional Media Access.

Also that Thursday, new Auburn Enlarged City School District Superintendent Misty Slavic and former Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo will discuss the district's transition and recent safety concerns on "Inside Government." The show will air at 7:30 that night and again at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, on Spectrum channel 12. It will replay at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29, on Spectrum channels 12 and 98 and Verizon Fios channel 31 from Auburn Regional Media Access.

Political forums, cosponsored with The Citizen, will take place beginning Thursday, Oct. 17, with a forum for the 48th New York State Senate District race between Sen. Rachel May and challenger Caleb Slater. A forum for the 126th New York State Assembly District race between Assemblyman John Lemondes and challenger Ian Phillips will take place Tuesday, Oct. 22. On Thursday, Oct. 24, there will be an interview with 22nd Congressional District Rep. Brandon Williams, as his opponent, state Sen. John Mannion, has not agreed to participate on the dates offered for a forum.

Cosentino will moderate the forums, and questions will be asked by The Citizen government reporter Robert Harding.

Future guests on the college's public affairs programming will include Auburn Mayor Jimmy Giannettino, Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck and representatives of the Auburn Education Foundation.

All programs are recorded at the college by students in the college's telecom/media department. They are streamed live and archived on the department's YouTube channel, which is accessible by searching for " " on the site. The shows are rebroadcast starting at 10 a.m. Saturdays on the college's station, WDWN 89.1 FM.
