Austin ranked 14th best foodie city in America, according to WalletHub

Austin has secured the 14th spot in WalletHub's 2024 ranking of , released Monday ahead of World Food Day on Oct. 16.

The personal-finance website compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 28 metrics, including grocery costs, restaurant accessibility and food festival frequency, to determine where food enthusiasts can find the best culinary experiences without overspending.

Austin shines in the affordability and accessibility of highly rated restaurants, ranking first in this category. The Texas capital also performs well in restaurants per capita, securing the 17th position.

However, the city faces challenges in some areas. Austin ranks 72nd in coffee and tea shops per capita and 58th in grocery stores per capita.

The report highlights Austin's craft beer and wine scene, with the city ranking 20th in craft breweries and wineries per capita.

Austin's overall ranking puts it ahead of culinary powerhouses like New York City (16th) and Chicago (18th), but behind top-ranked Miami, San Francisco and Orlando.
