Ballot glance: Another round of chaos in Damien Sordelett’s AP Top 25 vote

BLACKSBURG — Saturday started off in dramatic fashion with Miami being stunned on the road at Georgia Tech to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. It continued throughout the day as Georgia's offense stumbled in a lopsided loss at Ole Miss, and concluded with BYU rallying to defeat Utah and remain unbeaten.

A day full of eye-opening results led to changes within this Associated Press Top 25 ballot. Oregon remained at No. 1, and there were plenty of changes behind the Ducks.

Here's how my ballot turned out after Week 10:

Dropped out: Iowa State (previously 17th), Pittsburgh (previously 23rd)

Who's climbing? Who's free falling?

Alabama and Ole Miss both jumped considerably in the ballot after recording impressive wins against SEC foes. The Crimson Tide hammered LSU and nearly had the Tigers free falling out of the ballot. Meanwhile, the Rebels absolutely clobbered the Bulldogs.

So, you may ask, why is Georgia behind both Alabama and Ole Miss? The Bulldogs' losses are to the Crimson Tide and Rebels, and therefore the head-to-head factor played into how I slotted those teams this week.

Iowa State and Pittsburgh picked the wrong time to lose consecutive games. Actually, there's never a good time to fall in back-to-back contests, but suffering consecutive setbacks this late in the season doesn't do the Cyclones and Panthers any favors.

Both teams fell out of my ballot after losses Saturday night.

What about the ACC?

Miami's luck finally ran out. The Hurricanes were the recipients of favorable calls on replay reviews to eke out wins over Virginia Tech, Cal and Louisville. No replays were needed as Georgia Tech methodically ran the ball down the field to claim a 28-23 win over Miami.

The loss dropped the Hurricanes down to 12th in my ballot. That is one spot ahead of SMU, which is suddenly in the driver's seat to make the ACC title game as the only team without a loss in league play.

Clemson (16th) and Louisville (25th) are both in the ballot.

Who's next in line?

UNLV. The Rebels remain on the outside for now after a two-point win at Hawaii.

Missouri. The Tigers are ranked in the CFP Top 25 and are on the outside looking in for my ballot. They needed a late scoop-and-score to edge Oklahoma. Here's something that doesn't add up: Missouri has been outscored 91-142 in its five SEC contests.

Arizona State. The two-loss Sun Devils outlasted UCF and have back-to-back matchups with Kansas State and BYU. They could make some noise in the ballot with wins.
