Belles and Chimes pinball tournament invites women of all skill levels

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Pinball is enjoyed by many, but a tournament on Sunday was held just for women.

Belles and Chimes is an organization that focuses on events run by women for women.

Sunday's tournament was held at the Pinball Room in Sioux Falls and was open to players of all skill levels.

Players were broken up into groups and scored points based on placing.

All the money from the cash entry was awarded to the top four players.

One participant said pinball has been making a comeback locally.

"Pinball has really had a resurgence. They make a lot of modern themes," the Pinball Room manager Gwen Wheeler said. "They come out with new tables all the time. We just got a brand new Avatar machine. A brand new Uncanny X-Men machine that just came out in the last month. It's really kind of picked up. People like the nostalgia, they like the tactile coin drop. You can bring grandpa here and he has fun, and bring the little kids here and they have fun. It's just something that everybody can do."

Belles and Chimes was founded in 2013.

The Pinball Room also holds a pinball league every Tuesday.
