Bison ready to debut Saturday night
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — The newest sports franchise in central Illinois is ready to play its first game this weekend.
The Bloomington Bison host Toledo in the ECHL team's first ever game. The season opener is Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Grossinger Motors Arena.
"Just the crowd and getting out there on the ice and the excitement of that first game is always big," said Bison forward Jackosn Leppard. "
The Bison are the AA affiliate of the New York Rangers and will play a Sunday game against Toledo at 3 p.m. in the second game of the season.
"We've got a mix of everything. Skill, so we can score some pretty goals. We can get some gritty goals. We have guys that would fight," said forward Jonny Evans. "So if you're interested in seeing some goals and some fights, I'd say come out and cheer on the Bison this year."
