Blacklick Valley hosts annual Veterans Day appreciation event; donation presented to VCI

With Veterans Day coming up on Monday, multiple events honoring veterans were held in our area on Thursday.

The 10th annual assembly recognizing veterans took place at Blacklick Valley Junior Senior High School in Cambria County.

At the assembly, a donation was presented to Veteran Community Initiatives from an apparel sale the school does. Before the assembly, veterans were able to enjoy a pancake breakfast.

"They really enjoy doing it and I know that the veterans really appreciate it. Every year we're told time and time again that they love seeing the students involved. They love seeing them get involved with the veteran community and just showing their support and their appreciation for what the veterans have done for us," says Social Studies department chair Jennifer Bezek.

School officials say they want to continue to host this event as long as the veterans keep showing up.
