‘Bob Hearts Abishola’ Repeats To Air On The CW

The CW, which under the ownership of Nexstar Media Group shifted its programming model to predominantly already produced international and miscellaneous content, will air encore telecasts of the former CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola.

Headlined by Billy Gardell as Bob, a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse (Folake Olowofoyeku) while recovering from a heart attack, Bob Hearts Abishola made its debut this fall in off-network syndication (on station groups including Nexstar Media Group, Sinclair, Hearst Television, Tegna, E.W. Scripps, Weigel Broadcasting, Sunbeam Television, Gray Television, Mission Broadcasting, Lockwood Broadcast Group and Bahakel Broadcasting).

Bob Hearts Abishola aired on CBS for five seasons, from 2019 to 2024, producing 95 episodes in total. It was a reliable performer in the Monday 8:30 p.m. ET time period out of The Neighborhood and, based on the Nielsen ratings, could have continued. Budgetarily, however, the ensemble cast of 13 actors took its toll. Only Gardell and Olowofoyeku appeared in each episode in the reduced final season.

The sitcom will launch on The CW with four back-to-back episodes on Friday, November 15 (from 8-10 p.m. ET). British crime drama Joan, which currently occupies the Friday 9 p.m. ET hour on The CW, concludes for the season tonight.

Bob Hearts Abishola is not the first network sitcom to run on The CW in repeats following the net's acquisition of The Conners last season.
